A Singapore Airlines flight hit severe turbulence over the Indian Ocean, forcing the pilot to declare a medical emergency and land in Bangkok, the airline said. The incident occurred on a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which was en route from London to Singapore. According to data from the aviation tracking site FlightRadar24, the plane descended 6,000 feet in a matter of seconds.
The airline said the sudden change in altitude caused one passenger to suffer minor injuries. The passenger was treated by medical personnel at the airport in Bangkok and is expected to make a full recovery.
