In a highly anticipated boxing match, Deontay Wilder defeated Zhilei Zhang by majority decision on June 1 at the Freedom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The fight went the distance, with Parker scoring it as a draw (113-113) and the other two judges giving Wilder the victory (114-112 and 115-112).
Wilder, a former WBC heavyweight champion, was making his return to the ring after a long layoff. Zhang, a Chinese heavyweight prospect, entered the fight undefeated with a 27-0-1 record. Despite Zhang's massive size advantage, Wilder was able to use his superior speed and boxing skills to control the fight.
The fight was close throughout, but Wilder landed the more significant punches. He staggered Zhang with a right hand in the early rounds, and he continued to land clean shots throughout the fight. Zhang was unable to mount a sustained attack, and he was ultimately outboxed by Wilder.
