Bundesliga Veteran Departs Signal Iduna Park
Hummels' Journey Concludes for Now
WEB Central defender Mats Hummels will leave Borussia Dortmund immediately, the Bundesliga club announced. The 35-year-old Bundesliga veteran joined Dortmund in the summer of 2019 from Bayern Munich, where he had spent the previous eight years. Hummels made 128 appearances for Dortmund, scoring eight goals and helping the club win the Bundesliga title in 2021.
Hummels is a highly decorated player, having won the Bundesliga title six times, the German Cup three times, and the FIFA World Cup in 2014. He is also a member of the FIFA FIFPro World XI and the UEFA Team of the Year.
Hummels' departure from Dortmund is a blow to the club, as he was a key player in their recent success. He is a versatile defender who can play both as a center-back and a right-back. He is also a good passer of the ball and a threat from set-pieces.
It is not yet known where Hummels will play next, but he has been linked with a move to the United States Major League Soccer. He would be a valuable addition to any team, and his experience and leadership would be a major asset.
