Property mogul Ben Fordham admits to having 283 rental properties

A landlord with hundreds of properties has stunned Australians after he claimed he couldn't afford to rent a property.
Ben Fordham is a Walkley award-winning journalist who now hosts 2GB's breakfast show following Alan Jones' retirement from radio.
Fordham made the admission on his show on Wednesday, saying that he was "struggling" to pay his rent and that he was "at the end of his tether".
"I've got 283 properties and I can't afford to rent a house," he said.
Fordham's comments have sparked outrage on social media, with many people accusing him of being out of touch with the struggles of everyday Australians.
"This is a joke, right? How can someone with 283 properties not be able to afford to rent a house?" one person tweeted.
"This just shows how broken the housing system is in this country," another person said.
Fordham has since defended his comments, saying that he was "just trying to make a point about the difficulty of finding affordable housing in Sydney".
"I'm not saying that I'm poor or that I deserve sympathy," he said.
"I'm just saying that it's tough out there for a lot of people, and that we need to do more to help those who are struggling to make ends meet."
